How do I put Wahoo or iGPSPORT data on my video?

Export the completed ride as a FIT activity from your Wahoo or iGPSPORT device or companion app, then import the supported file alongside your exported video in GaugeReel. Use the recorded activity, not a planned route: the file needs timestamps and the measurements you want to show. Adjust the data offset against a visible stop or start, then export gauges for a track above your footage in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut. The same file-based workflow applies to Insta360, DJI and GoPro footage; reframe or stitch 360 video first. Heart rate, power and cadence must have been recorded by your sensors. Free includes core gauges and PNG-sequence or chroma-key MP4 export; route/map gauges require Basic or Premium. This is compatible-file import, not a direct Wahoo or iGPSPORT account connection or certification of every device model.

Can I add a speedometer or a little route map if my camera has no GPS?

Yes, if you recorded a timestamped activity covering the clip on a bike computer, watch or phone. Import a supported FIT or GPX activity and align it with the video. GaugeReel can derive speed and a route from recorded GPS positions; a planned route without recording times is not enough to reproduce your ride. No GPS activity was recorded? The footage alone cannot supply accurate GPS speed or a route. Speed gauges are available on Free; route/map gauges require Basic or Premium.

How do I add telemetry to a GoPro video?

Import the original GoPro MP4 into GaugeReel, the desktop app from gaugereel.net, to scan any embedded GPMF telemetry. Available streams depend on the camera and recording. For HERO12 or footage without GPS, add a recorded GPX or Garmin FIT track. Choose a gauge layout, sync it to the footage, then export a transparent overlay for your video editor.

Export a transparent PNG sequence or chroma-key MP4 at up to 1920 pixels wide, 1080 pixels high and 30 fps, with no watermark or time limit, then combine it with your footage in a video editor. Route/map gauges, full styling and transparent MOV/WebM video need Basic or Premium. Basic is $10/month and includes ProRes 4444 MOV and VP9 WebM; Premium is $20/month and adds higher dimensions, further gauges and Send to Resolve. A finished video with a moving route map is not an entirely free GaugeReel workflow.

Does it work with GoPro Hero 11, 12 and 13?

Yes, with different GPS sources. HERO11 Black and HERO13 Black can record GPS in the original MP4; GaugeReel reads GoPro GPMF, including GPS5 and GPS9 when present. HERO12 Black has no GPS receiver, so speed and route overlays need a recorded GPX or Garmin FIT track. A camera recording without usable GPS also needs an external track for those gauges.

Yes — reframe or stitch your Insta360 footage in Insta360 Studio, then pair the exported video with a timestamped GPX or Garmin FIT track in GaugeReel. Use a recorded watch, bike-computer or phone activity, or a GPX exported by Studio from supported GPS recordings. GaugeReel renders a separate overlay for your editor; it does not directly import native INSV telemetry.

DJI GPS-remote metadata and drone SRT, TXT or DAT logs are not direct telemetry inputs; you need a supported GPX or FIT source.

To composite the overlay, import GaugeReel’s transparent export — a Free PNG sequence or a Basic/Premium ProRes 4444 / VP9 file with a real alpha channel — onto a track above your footage in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, After Effects or CapCut, and the gauges sit cleanly over your video. For editors without alpha support, export a chroma-key MP4 instead. Premium users can also send the overlay straight into DaVinci Resolve in one click.

What is a transparent (alpha) overlay?

A transparent (alpha) overlay is an overlay layer in which everything except the gauges is fully transparent, so it can sit on top of your footage without a background box. GaugeReel exports PNG sequences and ProRes 4444 / VP9 video with alpha. Chroma-key MP4 is an alternative without an alpha channel; remove its colored background in your editor.

Does GaugeReel edit or re-encode my video?

No — GaugeReel never edits or re-encodes your video. It only renders the gauge overlay and exports it as a separate transparent layer, which you composite over your untouched original footage in your own editor.

Which telemetry formats are supported?

GaugeReel supports recorded FIT activities, GPX tracks (including supported Garmin extensions), and GoPro GPMF embedded in an MP4. FIT is a format used by Garmin, Wahoo, iGPSPORT and other devices; it is not limited to Garmin-branded hardware. Available gauges depend on the supported fields actually recorded. Pair the activity with exported footage from your camera. Native DJI logs and Insta360 INSV telemetry are not direct inputs.

Free includes transparent PNG sequences and chroma-key MP4, with separate limits of 1920 pixels wide, 1080 pixels high and 30 fps. Basic adds transparent ProRes 4444 MOV and VP9 WebM at the same dimensions and up to 60 fps. Premium adds higher dimensions and frame rates plus Send to Resolve. A 1080 × 1920 portrait overlay requires Premium. PNG and alpha video carry transparency; MP4 requires chroma keying in your editor. GPU hardware encoding is available on every tier.

Do I need an internet connection?

Not for free telemetry parsing, design or export — those run locally. Optional map tiles, location-name lookups and paid-plan activation need a connection. Placing a Location gauge sends sampled coordinates to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for street names. Map tiles and location results are cached; vector route mode needs no tiles.

Import supported data, choose Free gauges and styles, and export a transparent PNG sequence or chroma-key MP4 within the Free dimension and frame-rate limits. A paid plan adds full gauge styling, transparent video export (MOV/WebM) and more of the gauge catalogue, and you can change or cancel plans at any time.

GaugeReel licensing works offline: after you sign in once, the app fetches a short-lived Ed25519-signed license token and then verifies it locally with an embedded public key, so it never needs to phone home at launch.

A FIT file (Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer) is a compact binary format created by Garmin for recording fitness and GPS activity data. It stores GPS location, speed, altitude, heart rate, cadence, power, temperature and lap data from devices such as Garmin, Wahoo, Coros and Suunto watches and bike computers. GaugeReel reads supported timestamped activity records in FIT files. Available overlays depend on the fields recorded; FIT lap, pool-length and developer fields are not all supported.

GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is an open, XML-based file format for storing GPS tracks — a time-stamped list of latitude, longitude and elevation points, often with heart-rate and cadence extensions. Some watches, bike computers and phone apps export GPX. For GaugeReel, use a recorded track with timestamps, not a planned route. Import it and manually align it with your footage for supported speed, pace and distance gauges; route/map gauges require Basic or Premium.

What is GPMF (GoPro metadata)?

GPMF (GoPro Metadata Format) stores telemetry alongside video and audio in a GoPro MP4. Depending on the model and recording, it can include GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope and camera settings. GaugeReel scans GPMF when present. GPS is not available on every model: HERO12 Black, for example, records no GPS and needs an external track for speed and route gauges.

Why is my GPS overlay out of sync (and how do I fix it)?

A GPS overlay can look out of sync when the camera and activity recording started at different times or their clocks differ. Check that the recorded track covers the clip, then adjust the data offset until the gauges match an on-screen event, such as stopping. Check another point later and use stretch if timing drifts over a long clip. External FIT/GPX files need this alignment check; do not assume they automatically match the camera clock.

Does Insta360 record GPS in-camera?

Insta360 X-series cameras obtain GPS from a compatible remote, phone or activity source. Original INSV files can contain that GPS data, and Insta360 Studio can export a separate GPX for supported recordings. For GaugeReel, use that GPX or a recorded Garmin FIT activity alongside your exported, reframed video; native INSV telemetry is not a direct input.
