Refund Policy
Last updated · June 23, 2026
GaugeReel is digital software that is delivered instantly, so all sales are final and we do not offer refunds. We also give you a free, no-watermark tier so you can fully evaluate the product before you ever pay.
1. Overview
GaugeReel is downloadable desktop software — a digital license, not a physical product. There is nothing to ship, and your purchase unlocks features and access immediately. Because of this, and because a fully functional free tier lets you try the product first, all sales are final and we do not provide refunds except in the narrow situations described in section 4 below.
This policy works alongside our Terms of Service. If anything here is unclear, please reach out before you buy — we are happy to help you decide whether GaugeReel is right for you.
2. Why we don't offer refunds
Two things make GaugeReel different from a typical physical purchase:
- Instant digital delivery. The moment you upgrade, your license and the associated features are available right away. Digital goods can't be "returned" the way a physical product can.
- A real free tier to evaluate. Our free, no-watermark tier lets you run your own footage and telemetry through GaugeReel and judge the results for yourself — at no cost and with no time pressure.
For these reasons, payments for GaugeReel are non-refundable. We've tried to make this fair by giving you everything you need to make a confident decision before paying.
3. Try before you buy
The best way to avoid any surprise is to use the free tier first. It is the full application with no watermark, so you can build a real overlay end to end and confirm it works for your cameras, telemetry sources, and editor before spending a cent.
When you're ready to compare what's included on each plan, see our pricing page. We strongly encourage you to test the free tier thoroughly first — if the free version does what you need, there's no reason to upgrade, and if it doesn't, you'll know exactly what you're paying for.
4. Limited exceptions
Even though all sales are final, we will always do the right thing in a few specific cases. We may issue a refund or credit when:
- You were charged in error — for example, a duplicate charge or an accidental/unintended purchase that you flag promptly.
- We can't deliver a working license — if we fail to deliver the license you paid for, or the paid product is materially non-functional, and we are unable to fix the problem within a reasonable time after you report it.
- The law requires it — nothing in this policy waives or limits any refund or cancellation rights you have that cannot be waived under the consumer protection laws that apply to you. Where such rights apply, they take precedence over the "all sales final" rule above.
These exceptions are about fairness, not buyer's remorse. Changing your mind, no longer needing the software, or not using your subscription are not, on their own, grounds for a refund.
5. Subscriptions and cancellation
If you're on a recurring plan, you can cancel at any time from your account, or by emailing us at hello@gaugereel.net and we'll take care of it for you.
Cancelling stops all future billing so you won't be charged again. It does not refund the period you've already paid for. Your paid access stays active through the end of the current billing period, and then your account returns to the free tier. There's no penalty for cancelling and you can resubscribe later.
6. How to request a review under the exceptions
If you believe your situation falls under one of the exceptions in section 4, email us at hello@gaugereel.net with the subject line "Refund review" and include:
- The email address on your GaugeReel account.
- The approximate date of the charge and the amount, or your receipt/order number.
- A short description of the problem — for example, the duplicate charge, or what isn't working, including any error messages or screenshots.
We aim to acknowledge requests within 3 business days and to resolve them within 14 days. For non-functional-product claims, we may ask to troubleshoot with you first so we can try to fix the issue. Any refund we approve is returned to your original payment method.
7. Chargebacks
If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us first at hello@gaugereel.net. Almost every billing issue — a duplicate charge, an unfamiliar descriptor, a cancellation that didn't go through — is something we can sort out quickly and directly.
Filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card provider before talking to us may result in your GaugeReel license being suspended or revoked while the dispute is open. We'd much rather solve the problem together, so reach out and give us the chance to make it right.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes apply to purchases made after the updated policy takes effect; the version in force at the time of your purchase governs that purchase.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy, a charge, or whether GaugeReel is right for you? Email us at hello@gaugereel.net and we'll be glad to help. This policy is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
